Department of Disaster and Safety Management at Honam University Graduate School of Social Convergence

-Equipment: Securing simulation targets, 3D printers, cad plotters, ultrasonic thickness measuring devices, and anatomage tables according to the characteristics of the subjects

-The department of disaster safety management at Honam University studies safety in various fields, i.e. fire fighting, electricity, gas, health care and architecture, with the aim of fostering policy experts who will act as control towers in the event of a disaster and experts who can respond flexibly on-site with quick and accurate judgment.

It is expected that key talents who have expertise and practical skills in disaster management will enter various sectors of society through the support project to participate in the Gwangju Metropolitan City's project to support educational institutions specializing in disaster safety, education and training, equipment and facilities, research programs, and textbook development, and contribute to the establishment of the disaster safety management system, a key pledge in the seventh term of the popular election.

2. Strategies for the operation and promotion of departments

- Train professional human resources with expertise and problem-solving skills in the disaster safety industry, develop professional human resources with ability to respond to disaster safety management based on artificial intelligence (AI), organize systematic and specialized curricula for fostering experts in the disaster safety industry, and develop and open curricula that reflect demand from industries related to the disaster safety industry. Gwangju City supports scholarships, education and training expenses, equipment and facility costs, research and teaching materials development to these universities.

2 Graduation requirements for training professional personnel

- Degree thesis: Submitting a dissertation on the subject of disaster safety industry

-Foreign language test: passing one foreign language (English) test by qualification test for submission of a dissertation.

-Comprehensive test: Those who have obtained more than 24 credits or are expected to pass the foreign language test by taking at least two major subjects and passing them.

- Essential subjects: Disaster management theory, safety management theory, disaster prevention management theory, disaster medical management theory

-Optional subjects: special theory of storm and flood, special theory of weather disasters, special theory of river disaster prevention, special theory of construction safety engineering, special theory of industrial safety and health, laws related to disaster prevention, environmental health studies, industrial characteristics, disaster prevention psychology, urban disaster management seminars, social disaster management seminars, safety culture and policy seminars, disaster evacuation plans, etc.
