'Smart Safety Alarm System' at road-occupied construction sites

  • Policy features
    To prevent traffic accidents that occur due to driver's carelessness (drowsiness, alcohol use, cell phone use, etc.) at the construction site occupied by arterial roads, when an overspeeding vehicle approaches the construction site, an alarm sound through a super directional speaker is transmitted by an automatic speed detection device. At the beginning of the construction site, a Vibration pad installed on the secondary road surface.

■ ‘Smart safety warning system’ for a road occupied
construction sites​

 

Protection of an incident caused by DUI and DWI at
the road occupied construction sites.​

 

□ Brief of System



 ○ Conception



- The drivers of DUI
and DWI are assumed to a temporally blind. So, the visual aids cannot be
affected to avoid incidents. Sound and vibration warning devices should be
installed so that the drivers can recognize the danger.



 



○ Components of Warning system (see appendix 1)



- Smart Speaker Warning Device: Sound Warning (See
appendix 2)



The device can set alarm with a super directional
speaker installed a speed detection sensor. 



ð Super
directional Speaker*, Speed detection sensor, MP3 player,
Controller, portable table lift.  



(Super directional Speaker* : as a type of
Ultrasonic speaker, the sound beam angle is ±7’ – 6dB



- Effect of the
warnings: Automatically emitting sound warning if a vehicle is over speeding in
work safety zone.



ð If
a vehicle runs over the set speed (can be adjust between 50~100km/h), a sound
alarm upto 100dB (@1m in front of the speaker) emits for seconds



 



- Road safety vibration pad : Vibration Warning (See
appendix 3)



The pad is generating vibration while a vehicle run on a
rubber pad with irregular spots.



ð Road
safety Vibration pad : Irregular spotty tiles(7mm thick) are attached on the
surface of 4mm thick rubber pad(1mX1m)



- Effect of the
warnings: By passing the pad, a driver feels the vibration so that the risk can
be recognized.

- Jun, 2020: Commercial Operating at 2 construction
sites



In 2019: Test pilot operation at 2 Construction sites.
