  • Features
    (1) Using the size and type of oil spill, marine physics environment, marine weather, marine forecast model, and weather forecast model, the system can simulate the direction and spread of oil spill in advance.

    (2) The extent of damage can be predicted by evaluating the sensitivity of beaches, environmental ecological species, etc. located in coastal areas with predicted diffusion.

    (3) The system can identify information that lattices and evaluates the risk and hazard information of analyzing all ship navigation analysis big data over the years at a high resolution of 300m. This provides important information to the system for rapid removal of nearby ships and control resources by analyzing the accident rate in a specific area in advance.

    (4) Using the accident response process, it is possible to simulate the leakage, diffusion, assessment of the surrounding damage, and status of the surrounding prevention resources in advance. Finally, it is possible to establish a preferred control zone in the event of an accident, select a movable control ship, and assess the residual quantity over time, so that the National Maritime Police Agency and the Korea Coast Guard and the Korea Marine Environment Corporation can quickly establish a prevention strategy and generate a full status report.

This research was a part of the project titled 'Marine Oil Spill Risk Assessment and Development of Response Support System through Big Data Analysis', funded by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, Korea.

Product details

This system was developed with the aim of forming two systems: a preparation system for marine spill oil pollution accidents and a response system to support the establishment of prevention strategies in the event of an accident. The preparation system consists of matters concerning assessment maps, prediction of diffusion, and resource placement of contaminated areas, and the response system can establish prevention priorities through hazard assessment, integrated sensitivity map analysis, mobilization of control resources, setting prevention methods, and plotting against equipment mobilization.

The system is based on the big data processing structure of marine pollution that collects, stores and processes necessary data from the prevention support system, such as external model data, GIS data, and marine weather. On the basis of this system, it consists of programs that implement accident preparedness and accident response by reflecting the results of research in each field.

Korea Oceanic & Atmospheric System Technology Co., Ltd. is a company that develops and supplies three-dimensional visualization platforms for weather and marine observation equipment manufacturing, artificial intelligence, big data analysis-based software development, IoT hardware development and sales, and marine and weather information as it marks the 10th anniversary since its foundation on December 24, 2010.
It is mainly responsible for the development of marine and weather information applications and the establishment of systems by public institutions such as the Korea Coast Guard, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, the Korea Marine Environment Corporation, and the Korea Meteorological Administration.

The KEI(Korea Envinronment Institute) was established to contribute to preventing and solving environmental problems through environmental policy research and a professional and fair review of environmental impact assessments.
In order to contribute to the prevention and solving environmental problems, the institution is carrying out the task of improving the professionalism and fairness of environmental policy and technology R&D and environmental impact assessment.

In case of marine pollution accident using this system

The Korea Oceanic & Atmospheric System Technology designed and established an intelligent support system by participating in the project titled “Assessing the Risk of Accidents Causing Marine Pollution by Sea Area and Establishing a Response Support System using Big Data" of the Korea Coast Guard from 2016-2020, with the Korea Environment Institute (KEI).
